Dolores and I arrived in Bosque del Apache on Tuesday, November 20 to a very warm sunny day. Here is a view of the large marsh that is just inside the entrance.

The primary reason for going there Nov-Jan is to see the 1000s of geese and cranes. Every afternoon the cranes would fly in from grazing in the fields to roost in one of the many marshs. Here is a group of cranes gathering together at dusk.

The second reason for going to the bosque (pronounced boss-key) is to witness the breath taking sunrise and sunsets. Here are cranes as the sun begins to set.

Here is a second photo taken moments later where the colors have changed.

Of course, the beautiful scenary is a big draw for photographers. There were several hundred scattered around the park. I called them the wildlife paparazzi.

In the mornings we watched the sun rise on huge groups of geese.

On some usually unidentifiable cue, the geese would fly off, often en mass to either circle and return or go somewhere else. Eventually they would end up in the nearby fields.

Here are two cranes in the spectacular morning light.

We also saw lots of geese and cranes flying close up.
